Robert A. Aronowitz studied linguistics before receiving his M.D. from Yale. After finishing residency in Internal Medicine, he received training in the history of medicine as a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Aronowitz's central research interests are in the history of 20th century disease, epidemiology, and population health.
Carol M. Ashton is the John F., Jr. and Carolyn Bookout Professor of Surgical Quality and Outcomes Sciences and co-director of the Center for Outcomes Research at Houston Methodist Hospital. She holds an M.D. from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. She completed an internal medicine residency at the Baylor College of Medicine Affiliated Hospitals and is board-certified in internal medicine. She also holds an M.P.H. from the University of Texas School of Public Health.
David Blumenthal is the President of The Commonwealth Fund in New York. Until 2012, Dr. Blumenthal was the Chief Health Information and Innovation Officer at Partners HealthCare. He is also the Samuel O. Thier Professor of Medicine and physician at The Massachusetts General Hospital/Partners HealthCare System in Boston and professor of health care policy at Harvard Medical School. Previously, he was senior vice president at Boston's Brigham and Women's Hospital. From March 2009 until April 2011, Dr.
Lawrence Casalino is Chief of the Division of Outcomes and Effectiveness Research and Livingston Farrand Professor of Public Health in the Department of Public Health at Weill Cornell Medical College. His background includes 20 years as a family physician in private practice. He holds a doctoral degree in health services research, with a focus on organizational and institutional sociology and economics. Previously, he was an associate professor with the department of health studies at the University of Chicago. Dr.
Nicholas A. Christakis, MD, PhD, MPH, is a social scientist and physician who conducts research on social factors that affect health, health care, and longevity. He directs the Human Nature Lab at Yale University, and is the Co-Director of the Yale Institute for Network Science. He is the Sol Goldman Family Professor of Social and Natural Science at Yale University.
Robert Cook-Deegan is a research professor in the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University. From July 2002 to December 2012, Dr. Cook-Deegan was the founding director of the IGSP's Center for Genome Ethics, Law & Policy. Prior to coming to Duke, he was director of the RWJF Health Policy Fellowship program at the Institute of Medicine (IOM), National Academy of Sciences. Dr. Cook-Deegan was a Cecil and Ida Green Fellow at the University of Texas, Dallas, following his work in the report Allocating Federal Funds for Science and Technology (the "Press Report").
Richard S. Cooper is a cardiovascular epidemiologist with a long-term interest in hypertension and related conditions in populations of African origin. He received training in preventive cardiology and epidemiology. His work has involved both clinical studies and population based research. Dr. Cooper joined Loyola University Medical School in 1989 as the Anthony B. Traub Professor and Chair of the Department of Preventive Medicine and Epidemiology.
Thomas W. Croghan, a nationally recognized expert in the fields of mental health and pharmaceutical policy research, is a senior fellow at Mathematica Policy Research, Inc. His research concentrates on studying access and quality, adequacy of coverage, and outcomes for different groups, in addition to analyzing the capabilities of the health system to provide care for vulnerable populations. Croghan received his M.D. from West Virginia University School of Medicine and comes to Mathematica from the RAND Corporation, where he was a senior natural scientist.
Richard A. Deyo is the Kaiser Permanente Professor of Evidence-based Family Medicine at the School of Medicine of Oregon Health & Science University. Dr. Deyo, a general internist, was previously professor in the department of medicine and the department of health services at the University of Washington. After residency training in internal medicine, Dr. Deyo completed a fellowship in the University of Washington's RWJF Clinical Scholars Program, during which time he also received a master's degree in public health.
R. Adams Dudley is a professor of medicine and health policy at the University of California, San Francisco. He is the director of the UCSF Center for Healthcare Value and the associate director for research at UCSF's Institute for Health Policy Studies. His major research interests include developing measures of quality of care, assessing the impact of quality-based or value-based purchasing, and financial risk adjustment (adjusting premiums and capitation rates to reflect the severity of illness of enrollees).
