William Sage

William M. Sage is the former vice provost for health affairs at The University of Texas at Austin and currently teaches in the School of Law as the James R. Dougherty Chair for Faculty Excellence. Formerly, he was a professor of law at Columbia University, where he taught courses in health law, regulatory theory, and the professions. He is a nationally recognized researcher in managed care, medical malpractice, regulation of health care professionals, and insurance coverage determinations. Sage has edited two books, including Medical Malpractice and the U.S.

J. Richard Thistlethwaite

J. Richard Thistlethwaite is a Professor at the University of Chicago in the Transplant Surgery Section of the Department of Surgery, in the MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics and in the Committee on Immunology.  He is a practicing transplant surgeon.  He received his undergraduate degree from Amherst College. He obtained his medical degree at Duke University as well as his PhD in immunology under D. Bernard Amos, who guided Dr. Thistlethwaite to a career in translational research.   Dr.

Peter Ubel

Peter A. Ubel is the associate director of Health Sector Management as well as the Madge and Dennis T. McLawhorn University Professor at the Fuqua School of Business and professor of public policy in the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University. Previously, he was the George C. Dock Collegiate Professor of Medicine and professor of psychology at the University of Michigan, co-director of the University of Michigan Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program, and director of the Center for Behavioral and Decision Sciences in Medicine at the University of Michigan.

Robert Wears

Bob Wears is professor in the department of emergency medicine at the University of Florida, and visiting professor in the clinical safety research unit at Imperial College London. He serves on the board of directors of the Emergency Medicine Patient Safety Foundation, and is Associate Editor of Annals of Emergency Medicine. He is also on the editorial board of Human Factors and Ergonomics, the Journal of Patient Safety, and the International Journal of Risk and Safety in Medicine. Dr.

Nelda Wray

Nelda P. Wray, M.D., M.P.H., joined the department of surgery and The Methodist Hospital Research Institute in Houston, TX in July 2008, after two years as professor of medicine at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham. Before that, she was professor of medicine and medical ethics at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. She was the founding director of the Houston Center for Quality of Care and Utilization Studies, a Veterans Affairs Health Services Research and Development Center of Excellence.
