Peter Arno

Dr. Peter S. Arno is a health economist, as well as a senior fellow and director of Health Policy Research at the Political Economy Research Institute at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and a distinguished fellow at the City University of New York Institute for Health Equity. Dr. Arno was a professor of Health Policy at New York Medical College and the founding director of its doctoral program in Health Policy and Management and the Center for Long Term Care Research & Policy. Gloria Bazzoli

Gloria J. Bazzoli is the Bon Secours Professor of Health Administration at Virginia Commonwealth University. She conducts economic research on US hospital operations and the functioning of hospital markets. Dr. Bazzoli has been a lead investigator in several research projects, including studies of financial pressures affecting the hospital safety net and the effects of hospital mergers and closures on markets.

Jeffrey Brown

Jeffrey R. Brown is the Dean of the College of Business and Josef and Margot Lakonishok Professor of Business at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Prior to joining the Illinois faculty, Dr. Brown was an assistant professor of public policy at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. During 2001-2002, he served as Senior Economist at the White House Council of Economic Advisers, where he focused primarily on Social Security, pension reform, and terrorism risk insurance.

John Cawley

John Cawley is a Professor in the Department of Policy Analysis and Management, and the Department of Economics, at Cornell University, where he co-directs the Institute on Health Economics, Health Behaviors and Disparities.  In addition to his affiliation with Cornell, Dr. Cawley is a Visiting Professor at the School of Economics and Charles Perkins Centre of the University of Sydney, Australia, an Honorary Professor in the J.E.

Philip Cook

Philip J. Cook is a ITT/Sanford Professor of Public Policy and professor of economics and sociology at Duke University. He served as director and chair of Duke's Sanford Institute of Public Policy from 1985-9, and again from 1997-9. Dr. Cook received his B.A. with high distinction from the University of Michigan in 1968, and his Ph.D. in economics from the University of California, Berkeley in 1973. He joined the Duke faculty in that year. He has served as consultant to the U.S. Department of Justice (Criminal Division) and to the U.S. Department of Treasury (Enforcement Division).

Dora Costa

Dora L. Costa is professor of economics at UCLA where she teaches economic history. She is also an associate director of the California Population Research Center, a research associate in the National Bureau of Economic Research's (NBER) programs on the Development of the American Economy and on Aging and the director of the NBER working group Cohort Studies. Until 2008, she had been professor of economics at MIT. She received her B.A. in economics and mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley in 1986 and her Ph.D.

Harriet Duleep

Harriet Orcutt Duleep is a research professor with the Thomas Jefferson Program in Public Policy at the College of William and Mary. Previously, she was a Principal Research Associate in the Population Studies Center of The Urban Institute. She received her doctorate in economics from MIT. Her main areas of research include immigration, mortality, minority economic status, and women's labor force behavior.

Greg Duncan

Greg Duncan is Distinguished Professor in the education department of the University of California, Irvine. Between 1995 and 2008 he was the Edwina S. Tarry Professor in the School of Education and Social Policy and faculty affiliate in the Institute for Policy Research at Northwestern University. He was awarded a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Michigan in 1974. Duncan has published extensively on issues of income distribution, child poverty and child development.

José Escarce

José J. Escarce is professor of medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and senior natural scientist at RAND. Dr. Escarce graduated from Princeton University, earned a master's degree in physics from Harvard University and obtained his medical degree and doctorate in health economics from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Escarce has served on the National Advisory Council for Health Care Policy, Research, and Evaluation of the Department of Health and Human Services and the National Advisory Committees of RWJF's Harold Amos Medical Faculty Development Program.

Amy Finkelstein

Amy N. Finkelstein is the Ford Professor of Economics and the co-scientific director of J-PAL North America at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as well as the co-director of the Public Economics Program at the NBER. Her research is directed toward market failures and government intervention in insurance markets, and the impact of public policy on the health care sector, particularly on the development and diffusion of medical technology. She received her A.B. in government from Harvard University and her Ph.D.
