Peter Bearman

Peter Bearman is the director of the Interdisciplinary Center for Innovative Theories and Empirics at Columbia University. He has been on the faculty of Columbia University since 1998 when he joined as a professor of sociology. He is the Cole Professor of the Social Sciences and Co-Director of the RWJF Health & Society Scholars Program. He was the founding director of the Institute for Social and Economic Research and Policy and a former chair of the sociology and statistics departments at Columbia University.

Nicholas Christakis

Nicholas A. Christakis, MD, PhD, MPH, is a social scientist and physician who conducts research on social factors that affect health, health care, and longevity. He directs the Human Nature Lab at Yale University, and is the Co-Director of the Yale Institute for Network Science. He is the Sol Goldman Family Professor of Social and Natural Science at Yale University.

Bernice Pescosolido

Bernice A. Pescosolido is a distinguished professor of sociology at Indiana University and director of the Indiana Consortium for Mental Health Services Research. Professor Pescosolido received a B.A. from the University of Rhode Island in 1974 and a Ph.D. from Yale University in 1982. Robert Sampson

Robert J. Sampson is the Henry Ford II Professor of the Social Sciences, director of the Boston Area Research Initiative and former chair of the department of sociology at Harvard University. Before that he taught for twelve years in the department of sociology at the University of Chicago and seven years at the University of Illinois. Sampson was a Senior Research Fellow at the American Bar Foundation from 1994-2002, and in the 1997-8 and 2002-3 academic years he was a Fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences in Stanford, California.
