The final annual meeting of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Investigator Awards in Health Policy Research Program was held at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort in Coronado, CA on September 21– 24, 2016. The 60 participants included more than 40 Investigators and alumni, National Advisory Committee members, National Program Office staff, and officers from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
The gathering enabled Investigators to meet with their colleagues, members of the National Advisory Committee, Foundation officers, and other distinguished policy scholars to share their research in an idyllic setting marked by spirited dialogue, reflection, and friendship.
The final meeting focused on the research presentations of current Investigators, but also included special sessions on the politics and challenges of achieving health equity in the United States, and on the Program’s history and contributions to health policy research.
During the meeting, the National Advisory Committee members, National Program Office staff, and RWJF officers were honored for their valuable leadership and guidance over the years. In addition, participants heard from Dr. Risa Lavizzo-Mourey (RWJF President and CEO) and Lori Melichar (RWJF director overseeing the program) regarding the Program’s 25-year journey. During a special closing plenary session, several National Advisory Committee members and Investigators also shared their memories and recollections.
